So if the user has 500 points with 3 lives left, he’ll end up getting 1500 points. Every live the user has, it will multiply the score by that number. I have considered about the score and the lives, during game play the user would try to have a perfect score or to try and not get hit as much as possible, so i’ve turned that into a bonus score. The screen only will show the score and the game over text. I have managed to get some help from tutor, I have made another scene where the game ends, so it goes to the scene if the boolean “dead or time up” is true. I am Considering what to use as background music, or do I need one? I will need to do more testing from my friends to see if it makes it more exciting or not. – I have used this to extract the sounds I wanted from youtube. I have changed the red tiles to pipes, but had to resize to 32 X 32 because other sizes would not be supported, it would just not appear, so I had to set the tiles for the pipes for no collision, just like the blocks before.Īlso set the game over sound which I found on youtube, so when play dies or time runs out, it plays the game over sound, however this sound is from Mario, I may need to change this. I have also downloaded fonts from stencyl forge but I had to play around with fonts, didn’t knew how to make it stand out with background first, but after fiddling with colors and sizes, I found out red is best. This made everything else stand out more. So lowered opacity to 30%, in this way the background will fade out and the other actors could be seen. I have set up background, but had to alter it because it stood out too much and couldn’t see the raindrops properly, so game play would be hard. When the user clicks the start button, the game starts, when the game ends, and the use presses the R button, it will transfer to this start screen. The rat moves forth and back on the floor, so this start screen has some animation on it. The raindrop dropping into the bucket making an annoying dripping sound. I have implemented a start screen, which has the raindrop and rat. I am thinking about implementing my own character onto the game, I will try and draw a new character from my original idea(a janitor with a bucket above his head). I have managed to fix the animation, but the animation are not the best, I only edited the legs so it moves from left the right vice versa. Instead of having the text as “Press enter to continue” I set it as the background, I edited the background with photoshop and the text on it, this way I can have different fonts, and maybe tidy the code up a little bit. So the user does not need to switch to use mouse, it is more convenient because after playing the game with arrow keys, then restarting with R button, the user will just have to press enter to continue playing. I have added new background for the start screen and I took off start button but changed the start prompt to keyboard input instead. This makes the game harder, and easier both ways, it is smaller so you need to be more precise, but you can avoid the rats easier. I have drawn a new character for my game, and so It is holding a bucket, I have set the collision points to be around this bucket, but not the person itself, so the user has to collect or avoid anything with his bucket. It sets it to false when it loads the start screen, this high score is saved in the game, and the high score resets when the game does. High score system – Set the “New high score” attribute to true if new high score is beaten, will display “New high score: (Score)” if it’s beaten and just New high score: (Score) if it’s not. I got a few feedback from my play test demo, to add a new high score system, so people know what score they should aim to beat, also about the collision of the character. Before I was trying to end the game then having it to restart, but I have realised that the game never ends, it just resets the variables and reloads the scenes. This is very similar to just normal coding, with the conditional statements, timer etc.īy creating my game, I have learnt how to use stencylworks and improved my skills on Photoshop, also understand how game engines work. I have been looking at tutorials on YouTube and other websites which helped the most, but having a session with the tutor was the best, he showed me what exactly each part does and how things are linked together. It’s only the character, rat and the background put together with the game name. I have added a new logo to the game, so when you are choosing games, you will see the thumbnail I have created.
